Global Hepatology Meeting 2024 – A Truly International Gathering of Expertise

On December 6, 2024, the University Medical Mannheim (UMM) hosted the Global Hepatology Meeting, bringing together leading experts from around the world to share insights and foster collaboration in tackling liver diseases.

With featuring diverse topics, from innovative clinical networks like the Liver Phenome Project by Dr. Jimmy Daza and the LALREAN HCC Network in Argentina, to updates on viral hepatitis from Colombia, Kazakhstan, and cutting-edge microbiome research in Asia and Europe. With contributions from renowned specialists such as Dr. Navas, Dr. Wang, Dr. Riduejo, Dr. Qian, the meeting emphasized the importance of global cooperation in addressing pressing challenges and advancing hepatology research.

💡 APASL STC – Liver Cirrhosis meeting

We were at the APASL STC Liver Cirrhosis meeting which took place in AlmatyKazakhstan.

The meeting was filled with insightful lectures from leading experts in the field Prof. Alexander NersesovProf. Zobair YounossiProf. Harry JanssenProf. Ali CanbayProf. Markus Peck-Radosavljevic and many others where we explored the latest advancements and approaches to liver cirrhosis care.


💡 ALEH Annual Meeting 

Santiago de Chile

9-11 of September, 2024

We were present in the the Asociación Latinoamericana para el Estudio del Hígado (ALEH) annual meeting in Santiago de Chile. They presented PBC App and joint Klinikpartnerschaften project with the University of Antioquia in Medellin/Colombia

Besides fruitful discussions, we explored novel projects and collaborations.


💡 Esanum Live Stream: Liver Diseases in Clinic and Practice

Charité’s Hospital, Berlin

9-11 of September, 2024

Our group attended with Prof. Tacke, Charité Berlin, PD Jochum, Charité Berlin and Prof. Weiss Salem Hospital Heidelberg.

Discussion about rare liver diseases, cholestatic diseases, and fatty liver was both engaging and insightful. It was and excellent platform for exchanging ideas, sharing the latest research findings, and advancing understanding in these challenging areas of hepatology.

Professor’s expertise and ability to foster lively and thought-provoking conversations enriched the session, leaving a lasting impact on all participants 💡


💡Annual Gastro Hepato Transplant Group Kazakhstan

12-13 of July, 2024

We attended to the Annual Gastro Hepato Transplant Group Kazakhstan Meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan, on July 12-13, contributing to impactful discussions on viral hepatitis and primary liver cancer.

Special thanks to Prof. Kaliaskarova and Prof. Yesmembetov for their invitation. The meeting fostered valuable exchanges and opened doors to innovative projects and collaborations, paving the way for future advancements in hepatology and transplantation.


Patient Event on Liver Cirrhosis and Liver Transplantation

The program featured expert-led discussions on various aspects, including the causes and progression of liver cirrhosis, lifestyle and dietary considerations, tumor management, surgical preparation, and postoperative care. Organized by the Digestive Health and Life Science Alliance.

The program included expert presentations on the causes and progression of liver cirrhosis, the role of nutrition and exercise, tumor management, pre-transplant evaluations, and post-transplant care. Speakers included Dr. Christoph Antoni, Prof. Dr. Matthias Ebert, and Prof. Dr. Andreas Teufel, among other specialists. Participants also learned about the importance of patient self-help groups through a talk by F. Geßler.

Professor’s Teufel expertise and ability to foster lively and thought-provoking conversations enriched the session, leaving a lasting impact on all participants.


Kick off, Clinical Partnership Universidad Nacional de Asunción, Hospital De Clínicas, San Lorenzo

Asunción, Paraguay

A new hepatology and telemedicine partnership has been launched with the Hospital de Clínicas in Asunción/San Lorenzo, Paraguay. In cooperation with Prof. Marcos Girala in Asunción. We are deeply grateful to Dean Prof. Osmar Cuenca Torres of the Faculty of Medicine at Universidad Nacional Paraguay Asunción for the warm reception and support.

The partnership aims to provide specialized medical care to marginalized indigenous and rural communities while addressing the healthcare needs of underserved populations in Paraguay. The project is supported by funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Clinical Partnerships Program of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation, Germany. This initiative underscores the shared commitment to improving access to quality healthcare and fostering international collaboration in hepatology.
